Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has announced that a new carbon capture pilot at KEPCO’s Himeji No.2 power plant in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, has started operating. The Himeji No.2 thermal power plant runs on LNG, consists of 6 units and has a maximum output of 2,919,000kW. The pilot plant was established to conduct demonstration tests, as well as research and development for carbon capture technologies using flue gas from the gas turbines.

Renewable company Zelestra has secured €146.6 million ($163 million) in green financing for a portfolio of six solar PV projects in Spain. The senior debt package, including 21 Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), will be used to finance the construction of these projects. For this transaction, BNP Paribas and Rabobank acted as mandated lead arrangers, issuing banks and hedging providers, with BNP Paribas also acting as green loan coordinator.
