River Valley Resilience Retreat (RVRR) had a very successful evening at their first ever “Boots, Badges and Fiddles Dinner & Dance Fundraiser” on Saturday night at the St. Louis Community Hall. The event featured performances by the Dean Smith Band and Larry Krause along with a roast beef supper and Not So Silent Auction. RVRR co-founder and retired Prince Albert firefighter Jeff Reeder said they appreciated all the support.

Jason Kerr Daily Herald The Prince Albert Predators clinched first place with a pair of victories over the weekend. The Predators held off a resilient Swift Current Wolverines squad for a 16-12 win on Saturday, then followed it up with a comfortable 19-3 win over Moose Jaw on Sunday. Predators head coach Lucas Wells said they were glad to lock up top spot in the Prairie Gold Junior Lacrosse League “We had a good bounce back game on Sunday,” Wells said.

It was an afternoon of good music for a good cause at the Mahon Auditorium inside the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library. The “Save Our Seats” fundraiser brought together young musicians and a group of veteran performers for the afternoon. Vieng Enchanh, the library’s communications and marketing coordinator, said the Mahon Auditorium was used for a practice space for the Prince Albert Band, made up of young musicians.

Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) officials won’t know until Tuesday just how many houses, cabins, vehicles or sheds burned in the community of Denare Beach, but they expect that number to be in the hundreds. SPSA vice-president of operations Steve Roberts said they will have a full count of all values lost in the community by the end of the day Tuesday. The SPSA has counted more than 350 structures lost due to wildfire.

The River Valley Resilience Retreat (RVRR) has recently launched the Resilience Company 100. Evert Botha of RVRR said that the idea has been floating around for a year but the organization decided to launch it for PTSD Awareness Month in June. “(We’re really looking for individuals, families, businesses, organisations, associations, (and) unions to commit to $1,000 a year to help us with our capital project, then also to help fill the gaps,” Botha said.
