    The Saskatchewan Rivers School Division highlighted efforts they’ve made to address some of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action in an update presented at Monday’s regular board meeting. Superintendent Jennifer Hingley provided the update. Hingley shared highlights of the division’s response including growing land-based learning opportunities and ongoing work in anti-racist/anti-bias education with both leadership and school staff.

    The Saskatchewan Rivers School Division’s transportation accountability report shows that hiring substitute drivers continues to be a challenge for the division. The Sask. Rivers board got a look at the report during their regular meeting on Monday. It shows the division cancelled 38 routes during the school year due to a lack of substitute drivers. Director of education Neil Finch said that transportation is going well despite the regular challenges in the file.

The convocation ceremony took place in two parts with a morning and afternoon session. Harishgowtham (Harish) Shanmugam, a graduate of the Business diploma program, received the Outstanding Citizenship Award.

The convocation ceremony took place in two parts with a morning and afternoon session. Jade Littlechief, a first-year student in Resource and Environmental Law program, received the Reconciliation in Action Award. Littlechief, who is originally from White Bear First Nations in the southeast, said he was shocked to be recognized as a first-year student.

    The Prince Albert Catholic School Division and the Catholic Education Foundation have been successful in their joint submission to expand school food infrastructure. The two organizations submitted their proposal to the Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA). The SSBA has received $1 million in federal funding to address the issue. Catholic School Division Director of Education Lorel Trumier updated the board on the application at their regular meeting on Monday.
