Red Pepper is a daily tabloid newspaper based in Uganda that started its journey on June 19, 2001. Emulating the style of tabloids from around the world, it has gained a reputation for its blend of sensational stories, scandalous content, and occasional nudity. The publication has attracted criticism from the Ugandan government, particularly for its reports on the death of former foreign minister James Wapakhabulo, which disclosed that he died from AIDS, as well as for its conspiracy theories regarding the helicopter crash that killed Sudanese vice-president John Garang.
