Redmond Reporter
The Redmond Reporter serves as the community newspaper for Redmond, reaching over 25,000 residents with its weekly mailing every Friday. This vibrant publication covers a wide range of topics related to Redmond, including city governance, critical school matters, the lively arts and entertainment scene, the expanding business landscape, and exciting sports events. Most importantly, it highlights the stories of the local residents who contribute to the community's character. Launched in 2001 by former publisher Denis Law as a monthly magazine, the Redmond Reporter quickly became popular among readers and advertisers, leading to a shift to bimonthly distribution in January 2002. The paper's success continued, allowing it to be delivered weekly to homes in Redmond, enhancing the quality journalism that locals have come to cherish. This rapid growth reflects the community's appreciation for the local news and advertising provided by the dedicated team at the Redmond Reporter. Situated about 15 miles east of Seattle and bordered by the stunning Cascade mountain range and the Puget Sound, Redmond boasts 34 parks, including the well-loved Marymoor Park, and over 25 miles of trails, showcasing its natural beauty. The city is also recognized for its diverse and thriving business district, which hosts major tech companies like Microsoft and Nintendo of America, along with other notable businesses like Eddie Bauer and Genie Industries. The retail scene is anchored by the Redmond Town Center, a vast mixed-use development featuring shops, restaurants, and office spaces. Originally a small area of three square blocks, Redmond has grown to encompass over 16.6 square miles. Mayor John Marchione, a lifelong resident, leads the city and emphasizes the importance of balancing growth with the preservation of Redmond's rich heritage. "I'm very passionate about Redmond and very hopeful that Redmond can continue improving as a city that is sustainable and livable," he shared shortly after taking office in January.
