Washington State Treasurer Mike Pellicciotti gave his outlook on the state’s financial challenges and more during a presentation Feb. 5 at the Greater Federal Way Chamber of Commerce luncheon. As the state’s chief financial officer, Pellicciotti was elected to the position in Nov. 2020, following two terms as a District 30 state representative.

Roger Flygare, a longtime Federal Way resident, volunteer and leader in the local veteran community, has died at age 75. Flygare was honored Jan. 30 during a ceremony at the Federal Way Veterans Memorial in which the U.S. flag was raised to half-staff. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a past commanader of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Dini Duclos, former CEO of the Multi-Service Center and a former member of the Federal Way City Council, died Oct. 24. She was 79. Duclos left an indelible mark on Federal Way and South King County through her work with the Multi-Service Center, an organization she led for 16 years and expanded to help more than 58,000 people a year by the time she retired. She also served 12 years on the Federal Way City Council and received the Key to the City at the end of her tenure in December 2019.
