Rotten Tomatoes

Rotten Tomatoes

Rotten Tomatoes is a well-known American website that compiles reviews for movies and TV shows. It was founded in August 1998 by Senh Duong. In January 2010, the site became part of Flixster, which was later acquired by Warner Bros. in 2011. Then, in February 2016, Rotten Tomatoes and Flixster were sold to Fandango, a subsidiary of Comcast. Despite the sale, Warner Bros. kept a small ownership share in the combined companies, including Fandango. Matt Atchity served as the editor-in-chief of the website from 2007 until he departed in July 2017 to work with The Young Turks. The name "Rotten Tomatoes" comes from the tradition of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes at performers they did not like during live shows.
