Santa Ynez Valley News
The Santa Ynez Valley is situated in Santa Barbara County, California, nestled between the Santa Ynez Mountains to the south and the San Rafael Mountains to the north. The Santa Ynez River runs through the valley from east to west. To the northwest, the valley is bordered by the Purisima Hills, which separate it from the Los Alamos Valley. Meanwhile, the Solomon Hills create a boundary between the Santa Ynez Valley and the Santa Maria Valley. To the west, the Santa Rita Hills act as a divider between this valley and the Santa Rita and Lompoc Valleys.

The Santa Ynez boys volleyball team swept through the Mountain League unbeaten en route to winning the CIF Central Section Division 2 championship, and the Pirates got the lions share of league honors. Santa Ynez sophomore right side hitter Nate Biron is the league MVP. He amassed a team-leading 343 kills and 54 aces for a Pirates team that went out in the semifinals of the Southern Cal Division 2 regional after winning the Central Section Division 2 title under veteran coach Chip Fenenga.
