Incumbent Democrat Monique Limón beat Republican challenger Elijah Mack in the race for the 21st District state Senate seat Wednesday, in unofficial returns reported by the California Secretary of State’s Office. With 100% of precincts reporting, Limón received 165,946 votes for 62.2%, while Mack garnered 100,788 votes for 37.8%. The results will not be official until they are certified. The deadline for certification is Dec. 5.

Incumbent Salud Carbajal is holding the lead in his bid for reelection to the 24th Congressional District, based on early returns reported by the California Secretary of State’s Office about 8:15 p.m.Carbajal, a Democrat, is facing Republican challenger Thomas Cole as he seeks his fifth two-year term in the House of Representatives. With no precincts yet reporting, Carbajal had 93,203 votes, or 64.2%, to Cole’s 51,887 votes, or 35.8%, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Incumbent Democrat Gregg Hart was the winner Wednesday over Republican challenger Sari M. Domingues in the race for the 37th Assembly seat, with 100% of precincts reporting, according to the California Secretary of State’s Office. Hart received 74,439 votes, or 60.9%, while Domingues received 47,722 votes, or 39.1%. Hart led Domingues by 61.5% to 38.3% of the vote in the March primary, when both advanced to the November election. The results will not be official until they are certified.

Incumbent Alice Patino appeared to retain her seat as Mayor of Santa Maria Wednesday, beating challenger Diana Perez and two others in unofficial returns, with 100% of precincts reporting. The race pitted Patino in a bid for her fourth term against challengers Perez, a college administrator, the Rev. Will Smith and military veteran Andrew Foster. Patino pulled in 6,803 votes, or 46.39%, and Perez garnered 5,887 votes, for 40.15%.

Incumbent Alice Patino was leading in the race for mayor of Santa Maria in early returns Tuesday night. The race has pitted Patino in a bid for her fourth term against three challengers: college administrator Diana Perez, the Rev. Will Smith and military veteran Andrew Foster. With no precincts reporting, Patino had pulled in 5,471 votes, or 48.3%, and Perez had garnered 4,440 votes, for 39.2%, according to unofficial returns.
