The Pioneer Valley boys 4x1 Unified relay team ran to a third-place finish at the CIF State Track and Field Meet that took place at Clovis Buchanan High School last Friday and Saturday. The Pioneer Valley quartet of Yair Martinez, Alaki Ronquillo, Mauricio Bribiesca and Antonio Linarez clocked a season best 47.76 seconds to garner the third-place finish. Aptos won in 46.70 and Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills finished second in 47.58. Pioneer Valley placed third in a field of six teams.

The St. Joseph baseball team will get a pretty quick turnaround after a wrenching 9-8 loss to Bakersfield Centennial in nine innings in a wild CIF Central Section Division 1 championship game at Valley Strong Ballpark in Visalia Saturday night. The Knights drew the No. 2 seed in Division 2 of the CIF Southern Cal Championships. St. Joseph will play No. 7 San Dimas at St. Joseph's Dave Brunell Field Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the first round. The game was re-scheduled from Tuesday.

The Lompoc girls tennis team repeated as CIF Central Section Division 3 champion. Lompoc Valley aquatics also had a big school year. Those were some of the main highlights for Lompoc Valley athletics in the 2024-25 school year. The Lompoc girls tennis squad beat East Bakersfield 8-1 to win its third straight Division 3 championship under coach Mike Montross. Rianna Stouppe and Mia Jansen rolled to a win at No. 1 doubles in the Division 3 title match, and Gabi Arias and Emma White at No. 2.

Two veteran Santa Maria varsity coaches have resigned, Santa Maria athletics director Dan Ellington announced Friday. Ellington said Santa Maria boys basketball coach Dave Yamate and Santa Maria girls tennis coach Juianne Dolan have both stepped down. Ellington said both positions have been filled. Veteran junior varsity boys head basketball coach Johnny Rodriguez is the new Santa Maria boys varsity boys basketball coach, and Celena Madriz is the new Santa Maria girls tennis coach.
