After losing former head coach Pierre Coffey this week to Stewart County, Carver-Columbus has hired head coach Jarvis Jones to take over the program. Jones starred at Carver-Columbus, where he was a former four-star recruit, an all-state basketball player and played in the prestigious US Army All-American game. He was coached by former head coach Dell McGee, who led Carver-Columbus to its first-ever state championship in 2007, and now he assumes the same role.

I got the chance to go and check out the Paulding County Patriots, a team that has some really good pieces. After going 2-8 in 2024, you will see an improved team in 2025. They play in a tough region that includes McEachern, Hillgrove, and Pebblebrook, but I think you will see them make a push for the playoffs this upcoming season. Head coach Justin Pressley has a good pulse on the team, and I was impressed by how he coached the guys up and his demand of excellence.

Columbia vs Decatur (5A) - Columbia won its first region championship since 1981 under head coach Greg Barnett, who always has the Eagles competitive and playing at a high level.
