A fire at a Mountain View apartment complex caused an estimated $1 million in damage Saturday afternoon when improperly stored chemicals ignited on a balcony, according to the Mountain View Fire Department. The fire displaced seven adults from the multi-family apartment complex in the 700 block of South Oak Street. One bystander was evaluated for injuries by Santa Clara County paramedics but declined transportation to a hospital, the fire department wrote in a social media post.
