    A Wexford man was among a group travelling on a bus when it crashed in Southern France. 11 Irish tourists were hospitalised after the crash on a remote mountain road. The incident, which saw the bus struck by a car driving on the wrong side of the road, took place at Mont Louis on the border between Spain and France. The 48 Irish passengers had been staying in Roses in the north of Spain and were returning to their accommodation following a day trip when the accident occurred.

    The HSE has published the Breastfeeding Action Plan Progress Report (2016-2023) ahead of National Breastfeeding Week 2024 which runs from the 1st to 7th October. Breastfeeding protects babies against lots of illnesses and is designed to meet their every need. Data from the report shows an 18.6% increase in the number of infants breastfed at three months since 2015, and that 64% of new mothers now initiate breastfeeding after birth.

    An Orange Level Severe Weather Alert has been issued for Wexford. The warning issued warns of heavy rainfall. It will be in effect from Tomorrow, Sunday 29th at 1pm until Monday, 30th at 12am. Met Eireann is warning of localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

    The number of people who are homeless is continuing to rise. Figures released by the Department of Housing show there was an increase in the number of people needing emergency accommodation in August. It brings the number of people homeless to 14,486. There were 314 adults in emergency accommodation in the South East region last month. 62 families accessed emergency accommodation in the South East in August, these families represent 83 adults and 118 children.
