Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou has been the dominant force in the IndyCar Series this year, winning four of the first five races. However, there’s no guarantee the Spaniard will continue that success. Palou is one of the short-priced favourites to win this year’s race, despite having never won the 200-lapper in his five attempts. To date, the #10 driver’s best finish remains second in 2021 behind Helio Castroneves. Since then, he’s not finished worse than ninth and scored pole position in 2023.

Three factory-supported customer LMGT3 entries run by Iron Lynx will carry predominantly silver paint schemes inspired by the iconic Sauber-Mercedes C9 of 1989. It’s the first time in 26 years that Mercedes has raced at Le Mans. Its last entry in 1999 was with the Mercedes-Benz CLR, which was famously flipped twice by Mark Webber that year. In 1989, the factory Sauber-Mercedes team scored a one-two finish with the #63 and #61. Both of those numbers will return in 2025, as well as #60.

Alex Palou has been the star of the 2025 season, winning four of the first five races. In the only race he didn’t win, the Spaniard was second. Notwithstanding the Chip Ganassi Racing driver’s dominance, there has been plenty of action behind him, albeit without much in the way of carnage. After the first lap Safety Car on the streets of St Petersburg, there were no full course cautions until the Indianapolis Grand Prix when David Malukas’ car stopped.

Murray again flashed his speed with a Top 10 Shootout berth, earning the Snap-On Tools Camaro a ninth-place grid slot. However, it all came undone just metres into the 200km contest when Murray locked up and speared straight ahead at the tight Turn 2 left-hander. Contact with Anton De Pasquale knocked the Team 18 Camaro off the circuit while the Erebus entry spun and was then collected by Grove Racing’s Kai Allen.

The band will don the side of the #60 car at the 109th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. To mark the partnership, Rosenqvist starred in a 60-second viral video soundtracked to the 1999 hit Higher by Creed. In it, the Swede lip syncs to the band’s most famous song and pretends to play the guitar and drums. Members of the Grammy-winning band are set to attend this year’s Indianapolis 500.
