    The latest edition of Upper Deck's high-end The Cup hockey card product is arriving with a new measure of security aimed at stopping the potential for fraud. For the first time, the company will catalog its entire Rookie Patch Autograph card lineup from The Cup and make it available in a public database. On Wednesday, the company announced every Rookie Patch Autograph (RPA) card in its 2023-24 The Cup Series will be encapsulated with a holder that has a unique serial number and QR code.

    A 1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb graded PSA 6 sold for $55,200 as REA wrapped up its May Monthly auction late Sunday night. The price is a record for the grade and led the way in an event that included nearly 2,600 lots of vintage and modern cards and memorabilia. As is always the case with REA's monthly sales, the lots consisted of cards that could be had for no more than four-figure prices.

    An auction of items from the life and career of Bill Walton is underway. As we reported in February, hundreds of items, including Walton's championship rings from UCLA and the Portland Trailblazers, game-worn and game-used gear and other memorabilia, have been consigned by his family to Hunt Auctions. Bidding opened Tuesday and will close in a live, online format on Wednesday, June 11. Walton, a Hall of Fame player died in May of 2024 at age 71 after battling cancer.
