Steady

Steady

"Steady" is more than just a word; it's a word that my father cherished, and it holds great significance for me. This word has provided me with stability and clarity at various points in my life. So, when I decided to start a new project aimed at fostering discussions about our country and the world, naming it "Steady" felt like a natural fit. The name represents my hopes for this platform—a space for reflection, understanding, education, and a touch of humor when appropriate.

And second, this country was founded by revolutionaries who overthrew a monarch, King George III.

For all those who have served and sacrificed so much, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States Army is fitting. But the Army doesn’t need to celebrate Donald Trump. That’s what’s about to transpire in the shadow of the White House — a ridiculous, self-aggrandizing display that would look right at home in Moscow or Tiananmen Square. It should not happen here. Ever.

Before we move to the Trump train wreck du jour, some words about last week’s Musk mutiny. It was a remarkable moment in time — not just because of the snarky, escalating cage match between the richest man in the world and the world’s most powerful politician, but because it is a reminder of how much better life was before January 2025. Elon Musk’s vociferous critique of Trump’s big ugly bill was shocking, and much of it had the added advantage of being true.

Every year during Harvard’s graduation ceremony, the university bestows honorary degrees on a handful of accomplished people. At this year’s 374th Harvard Commencement, one of those accomplished people was award-winning actress, singer, and dancer Rita Moreno. The legendary entertainer and EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony) winner was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Arts.
