Fire Chief Cameron Haubrich will serve as Sunnyside's interim city manager until at least Monday, June 9, following the council's decision to table the interim city manager agreement on Wednesday night. Tensions are escalating within Sunnyside’s local government. Earlier this month, City Manager Mike Gonzalez filed a human resources complaint against Council member Theresa Hancock, accusing her of harassment, targeting, and creating a hostile work environment. Hancock was appointed in March to fill a vacancy. She represents District 1 and is running for re-election this fall.
