The Sunnyside Lions Club hosted the first of this year's monthly fundraiser dinners on April 9. For just $15, members served hearty taco plates complete with rice, beans, a drink, and dessert. Held on the second Wednesday of each month from April through October, the dinners are a beloved tradition.

    YAKIMA — Students have just a few more days to apply for Yakima Federal Savings and Loan’s annual scholarship program. The deadline for the bank’s Awards for Academic Excellence is Monday, April 18, according to a news release. The program offers up to $217,500 in scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Each award is worth $2,500. Applicants must live in Yakima, Kittitas, Benton or Franklin counties.

    The Miss Sunnyside Court has been hard at work on this summer's float, and they're ready for its unveiling on at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Sunnyside's Central Park. Each year, the court members and their parents create a new float. This year, Miss Sunnyside Serenity Ibarra, First Princess Audrina Campos, Second Princess Sol Mendoza, and Third Princess Taylor Hazzard made the decisions and handled the details, with support from their parents and mentors.
