Youth arrested in Sylvan Lake after armed robbery

A youth in Sylvan Lake has been arrested after an armed robbery. On May 3, at 6:54 p.m., a Community Peace Officer who was off-duty observed a youth robbing another youth with a knife. Police came on the scene and quickly located the youth who attempted to run on foot. The youth was chased down successfully and arrested. A knife was located in their backpack. The 13-year-old youth who cannot be named has been charged with robbery and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Pay parking in Sylvan Lake starts on May 15. For when pay parking starts, the Town of Sylvan Lake wants to remind residents to make sure they are registered for free pay parking. As well, new this year, there will be extended pay parking zones along the east and west areas of 50 Ave. Individuals who are already registered will not need to register again, unless they have a new license plate. People who have never registered before should register early to allow time for permit approval.
Opinion: Division is not the answer

With everything going on right now, this is not the time to divide ourselves. After the election on April 28, anger, resentment, and talk of separation have seemed to be at an all-time high. However, not everyone takes a separatist standpoint. In fact, one of my friends who works in the House of Commons for the Conservative Party called the election bittersweet. Obviously, the election didn't result in a Conservative government, but the party made gains in some really critical areas.
