These cadets will help fill the ranks as AFD works toward getting the new Fire Station ready to serve. "Let's go, Morris!" an Amarillo Fire Department Academy cadet firefighter said as he removed the air tank strapped to his back, having just finished with his turn in the training relay. "Let's go, Doss!" another cadet cheered while Cadet Adan Doss began putting on his gear.

Amarillo celebrates Juneteenth with a week full of events from June 13 through 22. All White Party Alpha Phi Alpha kicks off the local Juneteenth celebrations June 13 with their annual All White Party. The event will include cocktails, cigars, dancing, dinner and raffles.

    Overview:Canyon's mayor declared a state of disaster after hail and high winds caused damage throughout the city. Hundreds of homes and vehicles were damaged. More severe weather is possible. A thunderstorm with reported 80-mile-per-hour winds and baseball-sized hail caused widespread damage in the City of Canyon at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Early estimates from the city are that more than 200 homes were damaged in that storm. That number is likely to rise as the cleanup continues.
