It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys are expected to target a wide receiver with their first pick. Tetairoa McMillan and Matthew Golden have been the two names rumored for the Cowboys for a few months now and it would be a slight surprise if they picked anyone else with their first-round pick. But there is another player who should certainly be in the conversation at No. 12, and you can argue that he should be selected over both McMillan and Golden.

While there seems to be a consensus four or five players that Dallas will target, nothing is a guarantee even this late in the evaluation process. After all, teams are still meeting with prospects for their official 30 visits and the Cowboys are no exception.

The Dallas Cowboys have not had good luck with trades involving day three draft picks. While the Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks deals can be regarded as wins, trading away Amari Cooper for a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick swap was a failure of epic proportions. We have also seen Dallas trade away fourth-round picks for Trey Lance and Jonathan Mingo.

Outside of the trade for quarterback Joe Milton, the Dallas Cowboys have gone absolutely dormant in the second and third waves of free agency. It stands to reason the front office will reenter the free agent market following the NFL Draft when they have a better idea of their roster needs. There are still myriad high-profile players looking for a new home, many of whom might not sign until right before training camp.

Dallas Cowboys fans have officially emerged victorious in an objectively pointless battle with team owner Jerry Jones. After previously rebuffing DeMarvion Overshown from taking No. 0 from Rowdy the mascot, Jones has granted Overshown permission to embrace his famed "Agent 0" moniker. It was confirmed on Wednesday that Overshown is switching to the No. 0 for the 2025 season, and likely the foreseeable future.
