The Logan Banner
The Logan Banner, which was first called the Logan County Banner, is a local newspaper based in Logan, West Virginia. Its distribution is focused on Logan County and nearby regions. This newspaper was established in 1889 by Henry Clay Ragland, a former Confederate army soldier, and started as a weekly publication. In 1935, it transitioned to a Monday through Friday afternoon schedule. Then, in 1981, it changed to its current unique publishing routine of Tuesday to Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

MAN – The Man Town Council voted Monday evening to appropriate $5,000 awarded from a state lawsuit with pharmaceutical companies to the town’s police department. Earlier this month, West Virginia Attorney General J.B. McCuskey announced a settlement from a lawsuit involving pharmaceutical giants Pfizer Inc. and Ranbaxy Inc. The lawsuit alleged that the two companies conspired to delay the introduction of a cheaper generic version of the cholesterol drug Lipitor by 20 months.

LOGAN – The music programs at Logan High School – consisting of the concert choir, concert band, and rock band – held their spring concert for the public on Friday, May 9. The concert was held inside the Savas Kostas Performing Arts Theater on the Logan campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, a move that was done to accommodate more people. Logan High School’s little theater, which has traditionally been the venue for the concert, can only seat 310.

CHAPMANVILLE – A Pecks Mill man has been charged with sexual assault and incest after police say his 10-year-old daughter revealed “several years” of alleged sexual activity during a forensic interview. According to a criminal complaint filed on public record in Logan County Magistrate Court, Deputy T.C. Johnson of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was notified by Patrolman J.R. Townsend of the Chapmanville Police Department of a reported sexual assault of a juvenile.
