Due to the damage on Tomboy Road, Imogene Pass will be inaccessible this summer from the Telluride side, but repair projects are in the works. In mid-August, Imogene Pass, including Tomboy Road, was closed early for the season after San Miguel County Road and Bridge staff learned that a section of the retaining wall was gone. Nearly 10 months later, with most of the snow melting out, county staff are considering bids for the repair contracts.

An exhibit by Telluride artist Rebecca Messier gives new meaning to the expression works on paper: These are works not merely on, but deftly, meticulously, woven into paper. Messier’s tools are threads of rayon, silk and polyester — not paint. The results are on display in a show titled “In Stillness,” opening Thursday during Telluride Art Walk. The new time will afford younger dancers a chance to perform alongside the adults.

One of Colorado’s most scenic – and popular – trails will close for the summer as part of a multi-step program to ensure the long-term sustainability of its natural resources. The Blue Lakes trailhead, located about 12 miles southwest of Ridgway, will close June 2, according to a statement from the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests (GMUG). The closure is expected to last through August, or until it is safe to access the area.
