On March 16, 2007, 'the paper' of Wabash County Inc. marked its 30th anniversary by hosting an open house. This event was a way to express gratitude to friends and supporters who have been there throughout the years.

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon at the Wabash Carnegie Public Library signified the end of the facilities expansion. Several dozen people gathered outside the West Hill Street facility waiting for their chance to enter the building to see the changes brought about by the 4,400 square foot expansion. “Today marks an important milestone, not just for the library, but for our entire community,” Library Board President Bill Benysh said during a brief ceremony prior to the ribbon cutting.

    By the fall of 2026, the intersection of Wabash Street and U.S. 24 could have a different look. The Indiana Department of Transportation is considering changing the intersection from the current look to that of a Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI). INDOT hosted a public hearing on Oct. 29 at which representatives from the Indianapolis engineering firm HTNB made a case for the change.

    Carol and Dennis Horn have joined a very elite club within an already elite club. The pair were named the 2024 Distinguished Citizens during the Grow Wabash County Annual Dinner and Meeting on October 10. What makes the honor even more special is that they are just the fourth couple to have received the honor in the history of the award.

    The City of Wabash will soon be taking over 1.73 miles of State Road 15. The Wabash Board of Public Works and Safety approved Memorandum of Agreement transferring control of a portion of the roadway from the Indiana Department of Transportation to the city. “I’ve spoken with INDOT over the last year or year and a half about them potentially relinquishing State Road 15 (Cass Street), from U.S. 24 downtown to Canal and Market streets,” Mayor Scott Long told the board.

    If someone tells you they’ve seen a bright blue elephant with orange polka dots in downtown Wabash … believe them. They aren’t hallucinating. Rather, they have just seen Henrietta, an 11-foot, 3,000-pound elephant that has found a new home at the northeast corner of Wabash and Canal streets. Henrietta is the most recent installment of a public art piece by Downtown Wabash Inc.
