Earlier this month, communist China banned the export of key rare earth minerals in retaliation against U.S. trade policy. China’s communist dictator, Premier Xi, just made the case for Donald Trump’s tariffs. This New York Post headline sums it up well:“China Suspends Rare Earth Exports, Kneecapping U.S. Industry Reliant On Beijing’s ‘Monopoly.’”Rare earth minerals are essential to everything in modern life, including our national security.

Here is a simple fact: The Democratic Party does not like to renominate presidential candidates who lost in the last election. Just look at history. The 2016 losing Democrat was Hillary Clinton; the party moved on in 2020. Before that, John Kerry was the losing Democrat in 2004. He made some noise about giving it another try in 2008, and the party told him to forget it. The losing Democrat in 2000 was Al Gore. The party did not give him a second chance.

In the military, we believe that the reality of your enemy must become your own, or it will be at a time of grave disadvantage. Let’s put all silly pretense aside and come to the realization that Communist China is our number one geopolitical foe—they see us as such. China has enacted such egregious actions against the United States since we foolishly enabled them to enter into the World Trade Organization.

My alma mater was wrong. Villanova should have barred a young man from walking at graduation after filming a young woman being sexually assaulted. Instead, he basically skated. No arrest, no charges, no penalties. It took an intrepid journalist with a solid moral compass to bring the story to the attention of the Villanova community, and then to a wider audience. Kudos to him, not to the school. Ultimately, the budding porn director was forced to voluntarily withdraw from walking.
