It is owned by Scripps Networks Interactive and is based in Chevy Chase, Maryland. This channel showcases a variety of programs, including documentaries, reality shows, and how-to segments, all centered around travel and leisure activities both in the U.S. and internationally. Viewers can enjoy content featuring African safaris, tours of luxurious hotels and resorts, explorations of important cities and towns globally, culinary adventures highlighting diverse foods, and intriguing stories about ghosts and the paranormal in famous buildings. As of February 2015, the Travel Channel reaches around 91.5 million households with pay television in the United States, which accounts for about 78.6% of TV households in the country.
