The indictments, filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois in Rock Island, charge Dorothy D. Barber, 53, and Shyniece L. Mixon, 27, with wire fraud.

The city of Galesburg will pause new solar project applications for the next few months to review current ordinances and consider new regulations. The 120-day moratorium will not affect solar projects that have already been submitted to the city or those that have already been approved. City Manager Eric Hanson said the goal is not to prohibit solar developments. But he said the rapid growth of solar projects is raising concerns about land use development and long-term maintenance obligations.

Macomb School District 185 opened its new middle school less than two years ago. Now it might build another new building – a career technical education center for high school students. Superintendent Patrick Twomey said the center would benefit students who plan to work in a trade after graduating and need hands-on skills.
