Ironman announced the addition of a new event on Wednesday, dropping the news that New Mexico will see its first Ironman-branded event starting next summer. The main race will be Ironman 70.3 Ruidoso New Mexico, but the event will be a weekend festival of triathlon, with a 5150 (olympic distance) and sprint races offered as well. The inaugural race weekend is slated for July 11 and 12, 2026.

The LA28 Olympic Games Organizing Committee has announced that plans for triathlon at the 2028 Summer Games have been edited, with the events being relocated to Venice Beach. All three races (the men’s, women’s, and mixed relay) were slated to run in Long Beach, but the organizing committee ultimately decided Venice Beach would offer a better experience for both athletes and spectators.

Lionel Sanders had an incredible showing at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside last weekend, and with just three weeks to go before his first full-distance Ironman of the year in Texas, he is analyzing what it will take to beat the world’s best triathletes once again. In particular, he has his eyes on Norway’s Kristian Blummenfelt, who finished 15th in Oceanside after a flat on the bike course. Both men, along with a suite of other fantastic athletes, will be lining up at Ironman Texas on April 26.
