Paxton Media Group LLC, based in Paducah, Kentucky, is the owner of The Plain Dealer. The Wabash Plain Dealer, which has been in operation since 1859, employs a team of 12 individuals. In 1928, the property was purchased by Nixon Newspapers, and it later became part of Paxton Media in 1998.

This is the first issue of the new Indiana Plain Dealer, which is a combination of The Peru Tribune, Wabash Plain Dealer and Huntington Herald-Press. As you can see from the contents, each of our three respective counties is well represented in this first issue and we expect that following issues will have the same level of local stories of interest for readers in Miami, Wabash and Huntington counties. A former bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who was featured in an Associated Press investigation into how the church protects itself from allegations of sexual abuse was arrested by police in Virginia this week after being indicted on charges he sexually abused his daughter while accompanying her on a school trip when she was a child, according to court filings.
