The first of two sessions of Washington High School baseball coach Will Tyson’s fourth annual baseball camp began in the Pam Pack gym. Those heavy rains continued Monday night, making it tricky to get different kinds of instruction in for those who wanted to take part.

Published 11:02 pm Monday, June 16, 2025 Four all-star teams from the Washington Girls Fastpitch Softball League each finished second at the district tournament held the weekend of June 7 in Belhaven. The three-day tournament saw Washington finish as runner-up to Jamesville in the 6U, 8U, 10U and 12U age groups. Each team qualified for the state tournament, which begins June 21 in Jamesville.

Published 8:34 am Monday, June 16, 2025 CHOCOWINITY, N.C. — Luke Alligood said after Tuesday’s Post 15 Junior American Legion baseball game against Ahoskie that he wasn’t completely prepared for what came next. He said was ready to pitch and did all the things necessary before the start of the game to get himself set to face Ahoskie Post 102. What followed was the first-ever no-hitter that he said he’s ever thrown. In fact, he said he may have come close to throwing one before.

During the summer, we’ll spotlight two different athletes from the schools and list their accomplishments.
