Published 8:38 am Saturday, May 10, 2025 Roxboro Community junior first baseman Karrie Obie broke the NC High School Athletic Association’s single-season home run record when she hit her 21st on Friday in a 11-1 in over Northside on Friday in the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs. Roxboro scored two runs in each of the first four innings before scoring three in the fifth to end it.

Published 4:50 pm Friday, May 9, 2025 The Washington High School girls’ soccer team will start the Class 2A state playoffs at home and could stay there for a while if things work out right. The Pam Pack (13-2-1) are the No. 6 seed in the East Region bracket, which was released by the NC High School Athletic Association on Friday. Washington will face No. 27 South Granville (8-14) on Monday.

Published 9:06 am Friday, May 9, 2025 South Granville’s softball team got a run in the sixth and seventh innings to rally and beat Washington, 4-3, on Thursday in the second round of the Class 2A state playoffs. Washington saw its season end at 17-7. South Granville will face Eastern Plains Conference foe Farmville Central, which beat Bunn, 3-2, in the third round. Washington got a run in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead before South Granville’s rally.

Published 1:13 pm Thursday, May 8, 2025 YEATESVILLE, N.C. — Northside High School track coach Casey Schulte has seen a lot during her time coaching track and field and cross country this season. During the cross country season, the Panthers hosted the Class 1A cross country East Regional. Andrew Harding won the boys’ event as a prelude to winning the state championship. Last week, Northside hosted the Coastal Plains Conference boys’ and girls’ track and field tournament.
