The WVU football staff came close to landing Florida athlete LaRon Dues, but fell shy of winning his commitment. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Dues announced his commitment to Indiana on Tuesday after spending the weekend in Bloomington. Dues’ made his official visit to WVU the prior weekend, but he picked the Hoosiers over West Virginia, George Tech, Oregon and USF. Labeled an “athlete” in recruiting circles, Dues will most likely be a cornerback as a Mountaineer.

Despite already being fully committed, 2026 defensive back recruit Emory Snyder still wanted to experience the “red carpet” treatment during his WVU football official visit. And then following his weekend in Morgantown, Snyder feels even more confident he made the right decision to become a future Mountaineer. “Had a great OV weekend in Morgantown! Thank you for the hospitality all weekend! Can’t wait to be back!!,” posted Snyder when he returned home to Bixby, Okla.

With that in mind, West Virginia sent an offer to a 2026 combo guard. Jermal Jones, a 6-foot-3, 180 pound guard out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., revealed his WVU offer on June 15.
