Joey McGuire and his Texas Tech Red Raiders football team keep thriving on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, McGuire and the Red Raiders picked up a commitment out of East Texas as S’Vioarean Martin announced his intent to play his college career in Lubbock. The Red Raiders are heading to a bowl game for the third consecutive year, the first time that has happened since the Mike Leach era. How Joey McGuire has weathered this season’s storm of a poor start and bad injuries cannot be understated.

Texas Tech football has gotten back on track the past two weeks with wins over Houston and Baylor. After arguably the offense’s worst performance of the season against West Virginia, offensive coordinator Zach Kittley has found something that clicks: Tahj Brooks. With Behren Morton at the helm for likely the rest of the season, a healthy running game is just what a young quarterback needs to lean on. For four games in a row, Brooks has topped 100 yards rushing.
