BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man was arrested after a drug bust in Baton Rouge on Wednesday. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a multi-month investigation into a suspected drug dealer, Johnny Richardson, 38. During the investigation, agents were able to identify a location in the 4900 block of Mobile Drive that is believed to be associated with Richardson’s alleged narcotics operation. Agents managed to purchase crystal meth from Richardson.

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A bill that gives the local government more authority in dealing with blighted property has advanced in the regular legislative session. Blight is a growing problem in cities all across Louisiana. The issue of rundown properties in Baton Rouge had the attention of Mayor-President Sid Edwards as he was preparing to take office. “Since 2016, more than 64,000 calls for service in East Baton Rouge on blight issues have occurred, almost 19 calls a day,” said Edwards.

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First News) — Following a Louisiana First Investigates story, more people have come forward claiming to be victims of tax fraud perpetuated by a Clinton woman. Katyra Selders operates “Katy’s Early Bird Tax Service.” A Holden woman named Misty Brown first got in contact with the Louisiana First Investigates “Problem Solvers” team, claiming Selders possessed $4,790 that should’ve been given to Brown for her tax return. “I need that money,” Brown said.
