TJ O'Malley, a junior on the Mankato Loyola baseball team, is having another great season for the Crusaders this spring. Over 43 innings pitched, O'Malley has a 2.97 ERA and a .222 opponent batting average. He's also hitting .417 with a .491 on-base percentage and 13 runs scored. Last season as a sophomore, he went 5-4 with a 2.54 ERA and hit .303 with 16 RBIs. He earned All-Valley Conference, all-section and all-city honors for his play.

Mankato West sophomore Maddison Hoechst has been a key part of the West track and field team this spring. At the Section 1AAA true team meet last week, Hoechst took second in the pole vault at 10-foot-0 and ninth in the long jump with a leap of 15-9 3/4, helping the Scarlets to a second-place finish with a team score of 906.5. Last season as a freshman, Hoechst took third in the Big Nine Conference meet in the pole vault with a mark of 10-0.

Mavericks win NSIC tournament SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Minnesota State baseball team won two games over Augustana to claim the NSIC tournament title Saturday. In a 5-4 win over the Vikings to start the day, Louis Magers had three hits, including a home run. Sam George allowed three runs over eight innings to get the win on the mound.

The work never ends because its transfer time.

EDMOND, OKLA. — The Minnesota State softball team beat Pittsburg State 5-1, but then fell to Rogers State 4-1 in an elimination game in the central regional on Friday. In the win, Ryanne Mellum had a hit, two RBIs and two walks, while Sailor Hall allowed one earned run over seven innings to get the win. In the loss, Hall had two hits and a run scored. The Mavericks finish the season at 39-20.
