It was Malik at his worst, it was progressivism at its most disgusting. In a city where the murder of a legal immigrant hasn’t elicited a response from City Hall or the Sixth Floor, the mayor and the chief have taken some 10 cops off the street because of the handcuffing of two illegal immigrants.

Last night, in a self-righteous fit, the Penfield school board stormed out. The room was packed, parents were pissed, and the board was having none of it. And so, after snottily informing the audience that this was the board’s meeting and that the public’s presence was disruptive, the president called for a motion to adjourn and after a few mumbled words of parliamentary procedure the board en masse stood up and walked out.

I had intended to run down South Avenue, maybe to Elmwood, and come back through Mount Hope, cross the Ford Street Bridge and head back on Exchange and then Broad. But on the corner of MLK, across from the ESL building, I heard the screaming of the sirens. It was chiefs’ trucks, SUVs, from the fire department. You can tell by the sound.
