A major hospital trust in Yorkshire has been urged to tackle a “toxic workplace culture” amid allegations of bullying and harassment of a senior doctor. The British Medical Association says the clinician has been excluded from work after raising concerns at the Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS trust. Workers are entitled to protection under whistleblowing laws if they make disclosures in the public interest, but the union claims the medic has faced “unfair treatment” for doing so.

A project in Ordsall to honour the fallen heroes of past conflicts has received a £300 grant from a Bassetlaw District Councillor. The Retford Remembrance Project was established in 2018 and continues its work to identify military veterans who are buried or commemorated in All Hallows Churchyard, in Ordsall, with the name and rank of each veteran, along with the battles in which they served, displayed on an interpretive board.

Bircotes Young People’s Centre has received a £450 grant from two Bassetlaw District Councillors to help provide care packs and food parcels for young people. Harworth and Bircotes Ward Councillors, Cllr Lynne Schuller and Cllr Joe Horrocks, have continued to support the youth centre and have used part of their councillor grant to provide essential funding. The grant will be used to put together care packs filled with essentials such as shampoo, deodorant, body wash, and conditioner.
