The Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) is holding its 49th annual North – South All – Star Series from June 19 – 23 at Forest Glen Park on the campus of Huntington University. This series is a very prestigious event and will feature not only the best talent Indiana has to offer, but several future professional baseball players. June 19 will kick off all-star week with an underclass Futures Games showcasing 65 talented sophomores and juniors from all over Indiana.

Congressman Rudy Yakym is making several stops in the Second Congressional District with a “Back the Blue” Law Enforcement Tour. Yakym had breakfast in Plymouth Tuesday with several Fulton, Kosciusko, and Marshall county law enforcement officials. The congressman tied the area concerns with fentanyl to supplies coming in across the southern border. Yakym says he knows that being a law enforcement officer is harder now that ever before.
Grindle leaves Plymouth for Marian coaching position

The Plymouth boys basketball program is looking for a new head basketball coach. Joel Grindle has accepted an Associate Head Coach position with Marian College at Ancilla. The Pilgrims finished with an 8-15 record this season. In three seasons, Grindle was 24-25 as the Plymouth head coach. Overall, he is 108-136 n 12 seasons as a high school head coach including stops at Argos and North Montgomery. The Plymouth high school athletic department released the following statement:
South Central hands Plymouth third straight loss to start softball season

South Central used a five-run second inning to jump in front and never trailed in a win over Plymouth, 8-1. Gracie Patrick drove in Plymouth’s lone run in the bottom of the second. Patrick was 2-for-3 while teammates Emma Krupp and Rylee Mann accounted for the rest of the team’s four hits. Senior Kaylee Johnson started and took the loss. Johnson was touched for six earned runs. She walked four and struck out one. Aubrey Ferguson worked the final two innings and gave up two runs, one of them earned.

Opening a season against a team that already has three games under its belt can be a challenge. Even more so for Plymouth when the opponent is ranked ninth in the state. #9 (4A) South Bend St. Joe (4-0) stayed unbeaten on the young season with a win over Plymouth, 8-1. “We showed a lot of fight against the #10 ranked team in the state. Our girls battled until the end and if we play cleaner in the field and also get a few timely hits we would’ve been right in this game,” said head coach John Johnson.

Plymouth used five pitchers and a big third inning to win the Pilgrims baseball season opener. The Pilgrims (1-0) toppled New Haven to begin the spring season, 10-3. After jumping out to a one-run lead on a first inning score the Pilgrims opened up the game by scoring seven times in the third. “I thought we came out and did what needed to be done in game one. For the fourth-ranked Scottsburg Warriors (24-5), cementing their school’s name as a first-time state champion in their first State Finals appearance would be historic after more than 100 years of state tournament participation.

It was an impressive opening performance for a Plymouth track athlete as the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion hosted the Hoosier State Relays State Meet. Plymouth girls track state meet qualifier Jersey Hunter competed in her second state meet in the month of March. She represented Plymouth in the high jump in a field of 20 jumpers. She cleared 5’0” on her third attempt and came up short to tie her PR of 5’2” on her next three attempts.
