    The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats face an elimination game in the District 7AAA tournament. The Lady Wildcats finished their year as the number four seed after losing to White County at home on senior night Friday night. Livingston now faces Stone Memorial this week where the loser of that game will see their season end. Senior Mallie Carwile of Livingston said she looks forward to the challenge. “We need to definitely spread the ball out more,” Carwile said.

    The postseason for both the Clay County and Clarkrange girls set to begin. The basketball game Thursday night will determine seeding for the upcoming regional tournaments, which begin later this month. Neither team can be eliminated with a loss, but a win will pose an opportunity at a District 7A Championship next Monday. Clarkrange Head Coach Lamar Rogers said his team is excited and looking forward to the challenge.

    The Jackson County Boys finished the regular season Thursday with a perfect 8-0 district record. Jackson County’s senior class will graduate having gone 84-34 in regular season play. Head Coach Kevin Thomas said this group has accomplished some special things. “I’ve seen this coming when these kids come in as freshmen,” Thomas said.

    Sophomore point guard Ty Cobb saw his success at Upperman rewarded with a nomination for Mr. Basketball. Cobb selected as one of three players in Class 3A. With the selection, Cobb became the first Upperman player ever to be nominated as a finalist for Mr. Basketball. Cobb said his only focus remains the next game and who they are playing. “We all come out and we play really well together and move the ball and stuff and play real hard.” Cobb said.
