WVFM, commonly referred to as 106.5 Jack FM and previously known as WQLR, is a radio station that plays adult hits for listeners in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area. Broadcasting at a frequency of 106.5 MHz with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 33 kW, the station is owned by Midwest Communications. WVFM 106.5 operates on a busy frequency in the southwest part of lower Michigan. It effectively serves the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek region and is also audible in the Grand Rapids area, extending its reach north and east to Lansing and Jackson.     KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One person has been diagnosed with a case of active tuberculosis at Kalamazoo Central High School. The Kalamazoo County Health Department says the person who tested positive is currently isolated and undergoing treatment. Kalamazoo Public Schools superintendent Dr. Darrin Slade says the district is “taking guidance from the health department and is collaborating on the response” adding they are sending their best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

    KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Prosecutors have charged 53-year-old Marvin Humphrey of Kalamazoo with open murder in the death of 68-year-old Minette Weaver in November 2024. Humphrey was arrested Wednesday and charged yesterday, with his bond set at $500,000. Police found Weaver dead in her apartment in the one-thousand-block of Douglas Avenue on November 25th and her death was ruled a homicide over a month later.

The state House held a hearing yesterday on bills that would keep the tipped wage in place and exempt small businesses from the new paid sick leave regulations.
