    LANSING, MI (WTVB) – State SenZator Jonathan Lindsey this week introduced two bills that he says seek to improve health outcomes for Michiganders. Lindsey says Senate Bills 227 and 228 tackle issues essential to making Michigan healthy again. SB 227 would promote purchasing affordable, nutritious food with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, while SB 228 would remove harmful chemicals from food served to children at school.

    COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A bit of history will be revived in Coldwater next weekend. Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. the US 12 Heritage Trail Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will be dedicating a replacement tree and a plaque at the original site of Michigan Governor Cyrus Luce’s home in Coldwater. It has since been torn down and replaced with the Public Service Buildingat 57 Division Street. The plaque was originally placed at the corner of East Chicago and North Hudson Streets.

    KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two men from Battle Creek have now been formally charged in connection with April 12 shooting death of security guard Montine Wiley April 12 at a party at a club on East North Street in Kalamazoo. 18-year-old Kaiden Tanner Cole was arraigned Friday on an Open Murder charge, as well as Felony Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Weapon charges. 22 year-old Damonte Christopher Jenkins-Gooden is being charged with Tampering with Evidence in the case.

    KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 29-year-old man is in the Kalamazoo County Jail and faces multiple felony charges after a drug raid by police Thursday. Members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and Crime Reduction Team, with the assistance of the Michigan Department of Corrections and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives executed a search warrant in the 2200 block of Gull Road, following an investigation into drug sales.
