WYIN-TV (Merrillville, IN)

WYIN, a virtual channel 56 and UHF digital channel 17, is known as Lakeshore PBS. This television station is a secondary member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and primarily serves the Chicago area in Illinois, although it is licensed in Gary, Indiana. It is operated by Northwest Indiana Public Broadcasting, Inc., and is closely affiliated with WLPR-FM (89.1), a National Public Radio (NPR) station. Both WYIN and WLPR-FM operate from the same studios located on Indiana Place (Mississippi Street) in Merrillville, while WYIN's transmission tower is situated near Lake Dalecarlia, just south of Cedar Lake. WYIN is one of two PBS affiliates in the Chicago television market, competing alongside WTTW (channel 11), which is licensed in Chicago.

    GLOBE, Ariz. — Like many residents of this copper-mining town in the mountains east of Phoenix, Debbie Cox knows plenty of people on Medicaid. Cox, who is a property manager at a real estate company in Globe, has tenants who rely on the safety-net program. And at the domestic violence shelter where she volunteers as president of the board, Cox said, staff always look to enroll women and their children if possible.     Lake County is looking to add data center regulations to its zoning rules. The county commissioners last week agreed to have Duncan Associates work on amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance. Planning and Building Administrator Steve Nigro tells Lakeshore Public Media that there haven't been any petitions to build data centers in unincorporated Lake County, so far, but the county wants to have language in place, in case developers ask.
