The Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury, along with its sister publication, the Diss Mercury, was established in 1984. The Diss Mercury replaced the former South Norfolk News, while the Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury was developed from the Wymondham segment of the Norwich Mercury.

Since its establishment in 1980, Big C has become one of the largest charities in East Anglia, having raised more than £45 million.
