Bonjour! Bonjour!Mother’s Day in France arrives after American Mother’s Day, so I expect the shops will be filled with chocolates and flowers soon. Maybe there’ll even be Legos! For Valentine’s Day, there were kiosk billboards suggesting your sweetheart might want a bouquet of Lego flowers — a no-go for me since I already have a bunch of Lego flower pots in the house (thank you, Michael).

Bonjour! Bonjour!Memory is such an odd thing — now there’s a sentence that could go in almost any direction. It’s what I thought when I was writing about being in Boston with Joanne Chang of Flour Bakery (here’s the story with a terrific recipe from Joanne). Bonjour! Bonjour!I’m in Paris! I’m in Paris! And even though it’s been over 25 years that I’ve lived between America and France, I still get excited when I land, still smile when I walk into our apartment, still go out onto the balcony to check that the Eiffel Tower is where I left her (so far, so good) and still go directly to the patisserie next door (bonjour, Pierre Hermé) to buy croissants for Michael. It’s a good beginning.

Hello! Hello! Before I tell you a story this week, I’ve got some questions for those of you have children or grandchildren and especially for those of you who work with children: What are the things you love to do with kids? What’s your best advice for keeping little ones involved? Do you have a favorite way to “record” what you do with children? I’m not new at this, but I sure am rusty. Please leave all ideas in the comments.
