You Know What i Mean
It’s a blend of everyday topics, quirky tidbits, pop culture humor, and personal suggestions, all packed into a single email. Occasionally, I might include a recipe or some unexpected treats. Doesn’t that sound delightful? Consider it a refreshing escape from those work emails that take up too much of your time and the generic coupon codes for things you don't even want. It’s like receiving a heartfelt letter from me to you, but without the risk of a paper cut. Lots of great content awaits!

My old improv coach, Woody Drennan, passed away last week. I haven’t done improv comedy for years, but improv was a really big part of my life for a while. Ten years ago, when I was deep in it, I couldn’t have imagined he would be gone a decade later. Woody held comedy in the highest esteem. Improv wasn’t just a silly little game with him, it was an art form, and his passion was infectious.

You: Andrea! What is going on up there in Vermont?!Me: UM, SO MUCH, where do I begin. My summer goal was to swim at least once a week and I pretty much did, minus maybe two rainy weeks. For work, I got to cover a high heel race and a bunch of dogs trying to break a world record, which was really fun. A lot of movie nights, a lot of fresh tomatoes, a lot of drawing. But the thing I’m most proud of is that I finished the scarf I started almost two years ago.

Recently, I was rewatching (500) Days of Summer for the first time in a long time, and I was like, wait a second, if 500 days is basically a year and some change, then I must be coming up on that. Happy Valentine’s Dayyyy, hope it’s treated you well. First, a gift for your ears: I co-reported a recent episode of the podcast Brave Little State on how Vermont libraries stay alive and vibrant. It was fun and I’m really happy with the final result. You can listen to it here. You Know What I Mean is a reader-supported publication. I saw the movie Showing Up last month and I need to talk about it. It’s not really a movie you can spoil, but consider this a warning. It’s true, I drew this while watching an old episode of Drag Race. Here’s Showing Up, summed up: Lizzy (Michelle Williams) is a sculptor and she’s trying to get her artwork ready for a show while dealing with the bullshit of life— career jealous, troubled family members, no hot water in her apartment, an injured bird.
