    Congressionally approved funding formerly earmarked for a flood-mitigation project along the Lamoille River in Wolcott has been rescinded after a policy change made under President Donald Trump. The project would have removed an old bridge abutment that has been left in the river, obstructing its flow to often damaging results, particularly during the flood of July 2023. The road bed of the former Route 15 highway, which was also obstructing the river’s flow, would also have been removed.
