This offseason, the Raiders cast a wide net in hopes of finding a capable starting quarterback. One legitimate option was Darnold, who played college football at USC and has ties to Carroll because of that. But, as it turns out, Brady had a strong say in that decision, per Mike Silver of The Athletic.

The San Diego Padres avoided a four-game sweep against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 5-3 win on Thursday night. But things got ugly in the ninth. Fernando Tatis Jr. was hit by a pitch, causing both benches to clear and both managers to get ejected. Then, Shohei Ohtani was hit by a pitch, which led Padres reliever Robert Suarez to be thrown out before the game came to an end with the bases loaded.
