The second day of testimony in the trial of Stockton Unified School District board member AngelAnn Flores began Wednesday morning with the prosecution’s first witness: Andrew White, a special investigator for Sentry Insurance. His testimony focused on the insurance fraud charge tied to a 2022 minor car accident involving Flores. The fraud charge is one of three felony counts the second-term school board member faces after a grand jury indicted her in January.

A lively protest against President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown took over the sidewalks of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Friday evening, the second march in what’s shaping up to be a week of protest in Stockton. Hundreds of people holding protest signs and waving Mexican, American and other national flags streamed down the boulevard starting at 6:15 p.m., heading from the parking lot of Dollar General on west MLK Blvd. to Airport Way in the east.

Four months after the discovery of 27 dead horses at a Clements ranch shook San Joaquin County residents, prosecutors have charged two people with 26 felonies for alleged animal cruelty and other crimes, the district attorney said Thursday. Following the arrest of Jan Ann Johnson by San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office deputies Wednesday night, she was charged with 20 counts of animal cruelty in county court, a criminal complaint filed Wednesday shows.
