PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — The first case of West Nile Virus has been detected in a mosquito in Placer County this year. “With the ongoing warm temperatures this season, we anticipate we will see more West Nile virus activity after this initial detection,” said Joel Buettner, the district's general manager, in a statement. There is no cure for West Nile Virus, and it is transmitted through the bite of a female mosquito, the district said.
