By Parkview Activity Centre May 28, 2025 | 12:05 PM KAMLOOPS — A building near McDonald Park on Kamloops’ North Shore that was slated to be a new daycare will temporarily revert to its original use. Effective June 2, the City of Kamloops says the Parkview Activity Centre at 500 McDonald Avenue will reopen for one-time or short-term bookings for community events, programs and group activities.

Bell Canada has announced it will open six artificial intelligence data centres in B.C. as part of a plan to create the largest AI compute project in Canada. The Montreal-based telecom company, which has in recent years touted its intent to become more tech-focused, said the facilities will provide around 500 megawatts of hydroelectric-powered AI compute capacity.

By Beach Fire May 28, 2025 | 8:03 AM KAMLOOPS — A fire on the beach created a plume of black smoke on the North Shore Wednesday (May 28) morning. Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) responded to the scene near the 100 block of Tranquille Road after the call came into the scanner shortly before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. In a statement, the City of Kamloops says while the fire is under control, black smoke may still be visible.
