LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Nebraska Liquor Control Commission unanimously voted to suspend its executive director, Hobert Rupe, without pay during an emergency meeting on Thursday. No further details were provided during the meeting which lasted about three minutes, but Chairman Bruce Bailey said this decision was made after a federal search warrant was served at the office of Liquor Control Commission on Wednesday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The family of a man who was shot and killed outside the Royal Hookah in April 2024 is suing the downtown Lincoln bar. The shooting happened outside the Royal Hookah Bar and Lounge at 16th and O streets at 3 a.m. on April 7, 2024. According to Lincoln Police, 32-year-old Gregory Little and a friend argued with two security guards about cutting in line.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A man took a plea deal after fatally hitting a pedestrian in Lincoln and leaving the scene last year. According to court documents, 41-year-old Michael Hockman of Waverly pled guilty to attempt of a Class 3A felony and false reporting. With both counts, Hockman faces up to three years in prison and a fine of $11,000. Hockman was originally charged with failure to stop and render aid after a serious crash. Sentencing is scheduled for July 22. On Feb.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Staff at the Lincoln Regional Center have been authorized to involuntarily medicate a murder suspect in an effort to restore his mental competency. An attorney for 46-year-old Alaric Harden appeared in Lancaster County Court for a competency hearing on April 30. Harden is charged with first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony in connection to the death of 76-year-old Larry Cole.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The legislature unanimously voted to confirm Bryan Waugh as the 19th Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol Thursday morning. The Kearney Police Chief will take on his new role on Monday, June 2. He will replace Colonel John Bolduc who retired earlier this month after reaching the NSP mandatory retirement age of 60. Gov. Pillen appointed Lt. Colonel Jeff Roby to serve as the interim superintendent for NSP during this transition.
